About the Role

Provide guidance and support to BGM by helping facilitate successful implementation of company objectives and goals as well as meeting or exceeding legislative, regulatory and Employee Charter requirements through the various EHS programs and initiatives. Through these programs and initiatives, the Environmental Coordinator will work proactively and reactively to help maintain a safe working environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Know and understand how to implement and manage in a manufacturing environment the Health & Safety function to prevent accidents and maintain facility in compliance to all federal/state regulations.
  • Follows and supports and Magna’s operating principles.
  • Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuations routes correcting any safety concerns immediately
  • Within 24 hours of an accident/incident complete accident investigations identifying root cause and corrective action
  • Perform company EHS & Ergonomics training initiatives by helping identify training needs, designing curriculum, identifying facilitators and facilitating courses as needed-Including New Hire Orientation
  • Ensure BGM’s compliance with all Federal, State, Local and other applicable regulations.  Design and facilitate training on such compliance issues with Team Members and BGM leadership by using internal or external resources as may be necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all Magna Corporate environmental standards
  • Maintain Actionlinx action plans for environmental open issues, environmental document database and ergonomic assessment criteria on a quarterly basis
  • Establish and maintain the requirements of the EHS Corporate Audits, ISO 45001 audits 
  • Uphold the Employee Opinion Survey process and identify action to improve the score whereby creating a better place to work for all team members
  • Identify and address opportunities to minimize the financial impacts of Workers’ Comp.
  • Assist with the Waste Minimization and Reduction plan
  • Assist with the compliance of all Storm Water Regulations
  • Assist with the Spill Contingency Plan and submit to the appropriate authorities
  • Assist with all OSHA Inspections for the BGM Facility
  • Assist with necessary records and submittals to the Local, State, and Federal regulatory bodies on Air, Water Discharge, and Storm Water permits
  • Review and approve all MSDS sheets prior to products being brought into the facility
  • Assist with JHSC & Ergonomic meetings on a monthly basis areas of the Magna Health and Safety Audit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s level degree 
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in environmental management in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applying EPA Regulations, DOT Regulations and Management Systems.
  • Experience in managing environmental compliance including reporting and record keeping, environmental permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, regulatory reviews, ISO14001, etc.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to effectively communicate and teach both at the one on one level and in group settings.
  • Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment, problem solving and decision- making skills.
  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing operations.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Environmental Management is preferred
